Chain of Hearts Wrap

I don't know about you but when I go on a trip I have to have a knitting project to work on.  I don't know if I had been a good girl or if it was just luck but my LYS was having a sale right before I went on vacation and I picked up 3 skeins of Juniper Moon Farm Sabine yarn (40% cotton, 30% merino and 30% Llama) in Limeade for a really incredible price.  I choose the green because I envisioned a wrap with leaves around the border and the body being diagonal lace eyelets that would look like rain drops.

Well the first week of June we left for Myrtle Beach and no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't get the project to work out right.  So I gave up until I came home and decided that I needed to work on the pattern some more and kind of put it in my file of needs work designs.  I went back to my stitch guide and found a really pretty ribbed design called Chain of Hearts and I was able to envision it in the green yarn that I had purchased and knew that I had to make it.

The Chain of Hearts stitch is a lace ribbed stitch with the lace on the raised ribs and the non raised part is in reverse stockinette stitch.  This stitch pattern is knitted in multiples of 9 sts + 2 edge stitches.  Since I decided that I wanted a garter stitch border I increased the edge stitches to 6 on each side.  You'll notice that I have stitch markers on the supply list and that's because I like to section off the border stitches by using to stitch markers to let me know when I get to the border stitches at the end of a row.

I'm still knitting it but since it is an easy four row repeat that I have all ready completed 15 repeats of I felt confident enough to go ahead and post it.  It is an easy stitch pattern that you can once you've worked a couple of repeats can turn into mindless knitting.

The only skills that you need to know besides how to knit and purl are two decreases (k2tog and sl1 kwise, k1, psso) and one increase (yo).  I'll post more pictures as I finish the wrap.  Hopping to have it completed within the next week or two.  Let me know if you have any questions!
